I often tell couples how much fun night shoots are when we're planning their GTKY sessions; I'm thrilled when they go for it. I love leaving a shutter open, adding a pop of flash and capturing the silence of life, the vibe of a couple. It's intimate, fun and results in a different set of images.
...I could go on about the night sky and clouds. Swoon!

Kate, you rock! How original and interesting this is. Did you run up to them while the shutter was open and pop them with a handheld flash?

Thanks, Jim!! :) I used the new wireless pocket wizards for this session. I love the new ones--much easier and more reliable. However, there is one shot (that will go up in a posting soon) where I was so far away, the pw didn't pick up the trigger, so I had to sprint up to Diana & Jorly to pop it manually. Thanks for the photo love!!

Susan & Stan are infectious: laughter, passion & playfulness spill from them with such natural enthusiasm. When I read their questionnaires, I was bursting at the seams with delight and couldn't wait to meet the hipsters who represent some of my favorite qualities: they are silly, curious, passionate and so loving. And they seriously love cookies.

Can't wait for your wedding this spring in LA!

I was instantly amazed by her.
I was over the moon for him.
After I read these two lines written by Amanda & Luke, I could barely wait for our session together. Don't they make you melt? (Love, love, love, swooning love.) When we met at the top of the world in the Marin Headlands, I was also struck by the sweet laughter they share. What a great combination. :)

Beautiful images! I just saw them on SF Style Unveiled, so great with Amanda's insight.
Also when I put them on my blog another blog used a picture to post on their blog. Great work Kate!
I know their wedding will be great as I have a special place in my heart for the Beltane! =)
