Here are some additional shots from Sarah & Sam's intimate wedding!

Sarah and Sam called me from Denver last Thursday and asked if I would photograph their wedding in Maui on Wednesday. It took me a millisecond to make the obvious decision: who could pass up mid-week nuptials in Maui?! When I met Sarah and Sam in their hotel room, they were getting ready together: Sam zipped up Sarah's dress, Sarah rolled back his cuffs, their children's photos were taped to the dressing room mirror and the smell of tuberose was everywhere. This was a thing of beauty and it was only the beginning. Thank you, Sarah and Sam, for inviting me, a total stranger, to your intimate wedding and for making me a witness! (I won't let you down!) Here's a little favorite with more to come soon. And, by the way, it was my best over-the-hump day ever!

It was great to see Katie & Erik again since we had such a great time this summer at their engagement session in Capitola. Their wedding was so personal and touching, I think everyone cried at least twice. This was the type of wedding that was so beautifully honest, loving and raw that you would get chills every five minutes--it was great! :-) I was so honored to be there. Thanks so much, Katie & Erik! The color scheme was gorgeous, original and timeless: black and green...and yes, polka dots!! The flowers by Bonny Doon Gardens were a perfect match. Katie loved them!

You know "the look" of love that makes us weak in the knees? The exchange between two people that is so undeniable, so gorgeous, squeezable yet passionate and utterly pure? Ahhhh, I love that look and love photographing it even more! Libby & Marc, the adorable favors that never made it to the tables were not necessary because every single guest took home so much more than what was wrapped up for them. Smooch!

A Practical Wedding is a beautiful wedding site/utopia full of ideas, inspiration, creativity and lovely sanity.:-) I was so thrilled when they told me they wanted to feature Tiffany & Ethan's gorgeous Corralitos wedding. Tiffany and Ethan are beautiful, genuine people and they had the most incredible and stylish details sprinkled throughout their wedding day; it was a feast for the eyes--and their local & organic picnic lunches were delectable as well. Check out this incredible wedding resource--they are the real deal and strike such a cord with me that I decided to become a sponsor!

This news is a tad bit dated but nevertheless exciting. :-) I'm happy to share that two of my photographs were recently awarded in the international competition of the Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalism. Thanks to Lindsay & Tim and Renee & Kevin whose amazing weddings made it possible!

and Getting Ready

There is a part of me that misses the wintery months, especially around the holidays. This December I'm going to play in the snow a little longer by spending a few weeks in Upstate New York and Vermont. I would love to do some wintery engagement shots with you or even a winter wedding! Send me an email if you're game!

I fell in love with Couture Books the first time I laid my eyes on them and they just get better and better as you get to know them.  :-)  Couture Books are designed to be similar to museum art books.  They are printed on gorgeous paper that begs you to flip through--they are so engaging & different. Couture also created the first line of green albums--eco books made with post-consumer recycled products.  And they donate a portion of all purchases to the cause of your choice.  I adore them.

Annie and Kevin shared so much of themselves on their wedding day. I loved witnessing their raw emotion for each other, the contentment they feel when they are in each other's arms and the excitement they have about joining families. Thanks so much for everything, Annie & Kevin! ...And as a side note, this completes my summer trifecta of photographing three weddings of three dear friends. I will miss seeing you guys and loved every minute with you crazy kids! Best wishes to you all. :-) (Deer Ridge is a great venue!)

Picture your most idyllic Sonoma wedding. We'll all envision different things but from this point forward, Marissa & Brian's gorgeous wedding will be all I see. There were grapes on the vine, signature cocktails, Scharffen Berger and Miette cakes on vintage cake stands, market umbrellas, a perfect soundtrack, a vivid blue sky, buzzing conversations, children unabashedly dancing and sweetness galore between the newlyweds and their families. It epitomized joie de vivre.
